Bram’s Ski trails

Hi Everyone,

To start off this February 1, 2012, there is still time to sign up for the Midwest trip to MARQUETTE MOUNTAIN on Feb. 17-19th ($275) but it is getting close.  We have 43 signed up already.  So, don’t delay so we can accommodate all who would like to go.  Lisa Breu is our trip leader and does a great job but it becomes difficult to ensure rooming with short notices.  Lisa would like to get a final count for the trip by Monday, Feb. 13th.  She will be having subs, snacks and beverages on the way up.  We will be staying at the Ramada Downtown and there will be a lot going on there.  Friday will start the U.P. dogsled race but unfortunately we will miss the start but not all the excitement of the city.  The weekend will include breakfast both days, dinner at the Ramada Saturday, and lunch on the hill both days.  On the way home we will stop in Escanaba for fast food on your own.  We will have beverages on the bus.  We will pick up at The Bar on Lynndale, Appleton (leaves 5:30 pm sharp) and Walmart in Depere (pick up at 6 pm).  Parking at Walmart is in the southwest corner of the lot and The Bar parking is the east side of their parking lot (furthest from their main entrance).

The final trip of the season for our club is BEAVER CREEK COLORADO, March 24-31st ($1399).  There are only 5 spots left but that trip is also getting close to the end of signing up.  Sam Fontaine is the trip leader and he stated the last day for sign up would be February 15, that is money received no later than that date.  Don’t delay to ensure your spot on the trip.  It is a premier ski area “not exactly roughing it”.  We will be flying out via Delta airlines from Green Bay to Denver.  Motor coach to Beaver Creek, ski in ski out condos with full kitchens, at the Borders Lodge, welcome wine & cheese reception.  Hot tubs and pools on premises.  Lift tickets are 5 out of 6 days that are valid at both Beaver Creek and Vail.  The full amount of the trip is due upon signing up.

Big Snow weekend (Jan.6-8) was a big hit with the great ski conditions at both Indianhead and Blackjack.  Mike Bast was the trip leader and we all enjoyed just about all you could eat and drink during the weekend.  We had pizza at Blackjack before we left which enabled us to get home a little earlier.  The most entertaining moment of the weekend was the Lunar award presented to Julie Buechner.  She couldn’t understand why her feet hurt so bad in her ski boots.  Maybe the FOUR SETS of the full foot warmers in her boots was the reason.

There were 74 who enjoyed Steamboat Springs Jan. 13-17th.   Sam Fontaine was the trip leader with the assistance of Jim McMonagle.  Sam took one group via motor coach to Milwaukee then Frontier airline to Denver, motor coach to Steamboat.   Jim traveled with the other group flying out of Green Bay to Denver then motor coach to Steamboat.  They needed a little snow when we arrived but the last day of skiing was fresh powder.  There was some murmuring of getting snowed in but no luck.  The weekend was packed full of fun and of coarse the Lunar awards.  Someone took their sons skis to Colorado and one seasoned skier started to walk away, leaving his skis on the shuttle.

I am honored to be part of such a fine organization.  Our Board of Directors put a lot of thought into any actions or direction taken for your club.  We appreciate all of your input.  Our main goal is to make the best, most affordable trips so all can enjoy skiing.  The largest increase in cost for the Midwest trips is the bussing.  That is why I encourage all to sign up and fill the busses for the trip.  Moving from a 48 passenger bus to a 55 passenger bus has a dramatic increase in cost.  I would appreciate any feedback from the trip that you have been a part of.

To the Summit,

Deb

Thank You.
